What to do in town

If you’re only there for a day or two, start the morning off right. Grab a coffee at Kopper Kettle and soak in the delicious notes of espresso wafting in the air. A big breakfast is always great when you’re on vacation. Walk on down the main street to Hofer’s Bakery and café. They have all your typical breakfast fixin’s and after you digest, head over to Cool River Tubing to grab yourself a floaty to drift down the peaceful Chattahoochee. Only $8.00 a person to rent a tube and $5.00 extra for the waterslide.

If you’re more in the mood for adventure, drive a few minutes out of the center of town to Unicoi State Park for a day in nature. There are also several hikes around Helen; Yonah Mountain being one of the most popular. Then for dinner, you have to grab a brat or a traditional German dish at The Heidelberg. Of course, varieties of beer pair well with whatever you choose to eat- dark or light. Yum!
